Sippin' in Seersucker

Sippin’ In Seersucker
at The Shops of Canal Places

Ever year I look for new stylish events to attend. So as I was searching Google for events to attend this summer, Sippin' In Seersucker popped up. As you already know that I am huge fan of seersucker and southern attire, so you know I had to give this event a try. Last weekend my wife and I were privileged to travel to New Orleans to join the Ogden Museum of Southern Art (@Ogdenmuseum), Wild Life Reserve (@wildlifereserve), and Tabitha Bethune (@tabithabethune) for the annual Sippin’ In Seersucker. This event was held at The Shops of Canal Place on May 9, 2014. This was our first time going to this event and I was very impressed. I was overjoyed with the amount of people who came out with their seersucker attire. The people at the event were so friendly and came out in style with their seersucker ensembles. I would suggest that if you are huge fan of seersucker like myself you should put this event on your calendar to attend next year. In addition to the wonderful people and the seersucker, this event also showcased local businesses.  Local restaurants provided delicious food, mint juleps, wine and cocktails were flowing, and we were able to shop while enjoying live music. My wife enjoyed ourselves and will be attended this event eveery year. I took a few photos to show off the event. ENJOY!!!!!! Hit Events Tab to see the pictures for the event.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday

I love Easter Sunday. I get to see all the children dress up in their Sunday best. It always put a smile on my face to see young people look like young ladies and gentlemen
.
I love to see the family of the kids come out to support the kids while they say there Easter speeches and do church play. It is a good family day. This is what I wore on Easter Sunday; hit my style for the complete look.

Spring has Arrival are You Ready?

Spring is my favorite part of the year. You can finally put away your wool and heavy clothes and break out your Seersucker. To be honest this blog is all about Seersucker. Seersucker is by far my favorite thing to wear. I am Southern and Seersucker is an essential part of a Southerners wardrobe. Now the question is what is Seersucker and when can you wear if?
Seersucker is the quintessential Southern spring and summer fashion. The word seersucker is derived the hindi, urdu and Persian words "shir o shakara"? Meaning "milk and sugar" referring to the alternating stripes woven into the fabric
Seersucker is the perfect thing to wear on a warm southern day. It has a unique and classic style and can be worn to many types of events. If you’re going to a summer or spring wedding wear a Seersucker suit. If you are going to a picnic wear, Seersucker pants or shorts. If you are going to a day party, wear a Seersucker suit,
People find it hard to wear seersucker because of the “pin stripes”. If you stick to some simple rules you cannot go wrong.
1.    Stick to solid spring colors when it comes to shirts. PLEASE STAY AWAY FOR PRINTS OR PLAID.
2.    The rule that white goes with everything applies to seersucker. You can never go wrong with wearing a white shirt.
3.    The proper shoes to wear are white nubucks. You can also get away with wearing saddle shoes.
4.    A nice 2 or 3 button suit always works. STAY AWAY FOR THE SUITS THAT 4 OR MORE BOTTONS (That is just a rule of mine with any suit).
5.    Make sure your suit fits you. The sleeves should not be too long and your pants should be on your waist. The length of your pants should hit your shoes just right.
6.     If you are going to wear a hat the proper hat to wear is the straw scala hat or straw boater hat.
7.    Just about any tie or bow tie goes with a seersucker suit as long as it does not clash with your shirt.
If you follow these rules, your Seersucker wear will be simple, but you still will be the best dress person in the building.

Valentine's Day

Rose Delivery $70.00, Candy $20.00, Teddy Bear $15.00, the look on her face when her coworker's gift is better than hers, priceless. That is what Valentine's Day has become. On this day, every year, no matter what I've done the last 365 days, on THAT DAY I better jump in the competition. What competition, the silent, unknown competition that all men have been placed in by their spouse. Every year, we unknowingly compete with each other to see whose significant other got the best gift.

I know you are thinking that I must hate Valentine's Day...well I don't hate the day, I just hate what it has become. It's no longer a day to celebrate love. In all honesty, everyday should be Valentine's Day. I love my wife, and everyday I show her. I don't take just one day out of the year to express it to her.

So when Valentine's Day rolls around next year, don't get caught up in the hype of the day. Remember the reason why you are celebrating.
